FMCSA PSP 2.0 is on the way

Motor Carriers and Drivers, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) just announced version 2.0 of their voluntary Pre-Employment Screening Program (PSP 2.0).  The update, which allows third-party industry service providers like Advanced Reporting to access PSP records on your behalf, has been filed in the Federal Register and has entered the 30 day comment period.  If no comments require amendments to the notice, PSP 2.0 will go into effect August 21, 2012.  Motor Carriers, it is important to note that whether you choose to utilize an industry service provider (ISP) or continue to access the Motor Carrier Management Information System (MCMIS) directly the FMCSA is updating the required language in your authorizations and will be imposing stiff penalties for non-compliance.
